Metroid Prime 4

A key role pertaining to the development of the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 has remained unfilled since Retro Studios first starting seeking to hire for it in November last year.

The studio signal boosted its listing for an art director via Twitter recently, sparking the unfilled role going viral. According to the tweet, Retro Studios is looking for someone to take on the following responsibilities:

  • Sets artistic vision and provides feedback and direction to further that vision
  • Works with our Development team to make sure art priorities are effectively defined and processes meet both artistic quality and scheduling goals
  • Collaborates between the Art Team and our Parent Company to support effective and consistent communication and art direction.

More recent listings, from April this year, include other high-ranking roles, including lead character artist, lead cinematics artist, and lead graphics engineer.

Metroid Prime 4 was originally rumored to be in development by Bandai Namco Studios, but that progress was scrapped in January 2019, with Retro Studios taking the helm. Nintendo also previously provided a video explaining the situation surrounding Metroid Prime 4‘s development. Since Retro is still looking for an art director, the game may be quite a long time away.
