While Capcom revealed at E3 2012 that series regular Ada Wong would be present in Resident Evil 6 as an NPC, it looks like there may be a bit more to her inclusion than previously thought.  Files uncovered in the recent Resident Evil 6 demo suggest that she may be a playable character.  Users on NeoGAF and GameFaqs spotted these files, as well as others that indicate the use of her signature hookshot move.

Up to this point, we’ve known that Resident Evil 6 will include three separate campaigns playable from the perspective of specific characters: Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jake Muller.  If these files are any indication, we may be looking at a fourth playable character and campaign.  Perhaps it will be available in a special edition of the game or as some sort of always popular on-disc DLC.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of the possibility of a fourth main character.  The Premium Edition of the game announced in April contains four different packages with unique covers.  Three of them sport the already revealed single player characters.  The fourth cover features a “secret” design to be revealed later.  Well, that’s convenient…

When asked about the files, a Capcom spokesperson told Eurogamer, “While it is correct that at E3 we confirmed that Ada Wong would feature in Resident Evil 6, we have no comment on the reports that are currently circulating.”

It looks like we’ll have a wait a bit to find out if we can don that slinky red dress and blast some zombies.  In the meantime, stay tuned to OnlySP for more Resident Evil 6 news and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for up-to-the-minute information.

I'm a new dad, gaming machine, and beard aficionado. With a little one in the house, I've come to embrace the single-player experience, as it is much less likely to send me into a profanity-laced, controller-throwing tantrum. Writing and video games are two of my greatest passions, so this is a natural fit for me. As long as it doesn't require me to perform coordinated dance moves in front of my Kinect, i'm willing to pen my thoughts on it. Aside from gaming, I love music (Smashing Pumpkins), coffee (Red-Eye), and sushi (Yellowtail). All offerings of my aforementioned favorites will be accepted with open arms and, if you're lucky, i'll let you touch my beard. Just don't pull on it. That hurts.
