Hey there Single Player gamers! This week our Reader Discussion is surrounding the controversial subject of Virtual Reality.

Yesterday the news that Oculus Rift would cost a hefty $599/£499 was disappointing yet unsurprising. As with all brand-new tech, the starting prices are often through the roof – how much did you pay for your Day One Edition of Xbox One or even your Playstation 3 on release day?

The problem here though is that, in my opinion at least, Virtual Reality is something you really need to experience before purchasing, so spending that amount of hard-earned money on a potentially brilliant device is risky for the average person. I’m sure Oculus Rift and Playstation VR (which is estimated to cost a similar amount) will sell plenty, but I won’t be one the buyers.

I will be waiting at least a couple of years until even thinking of strapping some sort of Virtual Reality to my face. As it stands, my interest is pretty low personally, although I will of course be keeping up to date on how successful it is in its infant years.

There are many people that disagree with me (something I’ve become very used to!), including some here at OnlySP. Are you with me, or will you be looking into Virtual Reality much sooner – like this year? Let us know in the comments below, or in the OnlySP forums – we’d love to hear from our readers!
