The PUBG universe is expanding in a narrative direction thanks to a new studio and well-known leader.

PUBG Corporation announced today that it has opened Striking Distance. The developer is set to produce a narrative-driven game in the publisher’s battle royale world.

Most exciting of all is the confirmation that the project and studio will be led by veteran Call of Duty and Dead Space developer, Glen Schofield. Schofield took the lead on the original Dead Space, so any interested in the PUBG universe may be in for a real treat.

Schofield says the studio is only just getting started and that it is looking for “the right people” to really get things started.

Though there are no details on whether or not the game will have any multiplayer components, single-players can at least look forward to a more traditional take on a game exclusively known for its online functionality.

Michael fell into the OnlySP team toward the end of 2017. You’ll mostly catch his work over in the news area, but that doesn’t mean he won’t dip into the features section every now and then. For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
