The events of Killzone 3 have left Helghan in an uninhabitable state and their people decimated. Still, war continues. 30 years later the Helghast have taken refuge on Vekta with the leave of the conquering ISA. In a nod to cold war Berlin the Helghast and the Vektans inhabit a city separated by a massive security wall where unrest stirs in the depths of their respective communities. That unrest will soon escalate and the Shadow Marshals – a military intelligence organization – must intervene to attempt to maintain peace.

As Shadow Marshal Lucas Kellan you will undertake a range of missions with various objectives from stealth infiltration to guns blazing confrontation. Walk the line and make no mistakes or the cold war will become too hot for even the Shadow Marshals to keep from exploding into all-out conflict.

Gone are the gritty and snowy landscapes of Helghan. In Shadow Fall you will return to Vekta, the setting of the first Killzone where the beautiful aesthetics of the Eden-like planet hide dark secrets.

The multiplayer is also shadowed in secrecy so far but given the success of previous titles and a setting ripe for faction conflict, another fantastic multiplayer element from Guerrilla Games is certainly in the offing in case you are interested.

There’s no question this game offers some of the most beautiful graphics seen in an FPS and that is no surprise coming from Guerilla’s proprietary engine. The world looks more alive than every before and it certainly looks like gamers won’t be able to complain about a lack of color this time around.

The player seemed smooth but not too floaty, there has always been a little weight to Killzone that make it feel more real and that could make a return but we won’t know until we have it in our hands. Killzone 3 gave up some of that weight but I trust GG to strike the right balance. Remember this will be a Shadow Marshal instead of a grunt so a more agile character wouldn’t be unusual. New to the E3 footage was a helper device that provides recon, remote drone kills, and shields. The safe bet is on returning weapon favorites as well as new entries in your arsenal.

Look for Killzone: Shadow Fall as the premiere launch game for PS4. So far that just means “Holiday 2013” but we will update you on the exact date as soon as we know.
