Pokemon Sword and Shield

Pokémon Sword and Shield will now implement a new autosaving mechanic.

In the latest issue of Game Informer, director Shigeru Ohmori confirmed that the upcoming entries in the Pokémon franchise will have the ability to autosave. Ohmori elaborated further, saying, “traditionally in Pokémon games, it’s an important thing to write your report to record your save,” and “we do have an autosave feature this time, where you can just adventure and it’ll constantly save the game.”

Additionally, players who do not want autosave will be able to turn the feature off, which is definitely appreciated when it comes to catching legendary Pokémon as well as breeding and grooming Pokémon for the competitive scene. Ohmori also said that he thinks restarting a game on Nintendo Switch will be harder than on previous consoles, noting, “on the NES, you’d have a dedicated button to reset the whole thing, but with the Switch, it’s a little bit more complicated of a process.” However, the previous Pokémon entries have had a soft reset function where players can press a combination of buttons to restart their game.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will release Nov. 15, 2019 for the Nintendo Switch.
More information about some of Sword and Shield‘s attacks, items, and features have already been revealed. It was also revealed that Team Yell would be antagonists in the game.
