According to Niantic and the Pokémon Company, Pokémon Go, the highly-anticipated augmented reality game set that has you catching the titular critters in various places around the real world on your mobile device, will be entering into field tests sometime later this month. Niantec had this to say on their website:
The Pokémon Company and Niantic will be inviting users to field test Pokémon GO in Japan later this month. The Pokémon GO field test program will give users the opportunity to share early feedback and help improve the Pokémon GO experience. Please stay tuned for information about expansion of the field test to other markets.
The game came as a huge surprise when it was announced with a hype-y trailer back in early September, but since then, we haven’t heard much about it (other than trolly rumors that the game was cancelled…which thankfully turned out to be untrue).
There’s also a video circulating around Youtube which might show off some of the actual gameplay of the highly-anticipated app-game. The video was taken at SXSW over the weekend. You can check out the video below. Kotaku reports that while the video seems legitimate, it’s hard to confirm or deny its validity.
