Patapon 2 Remastered

Sony Interactive Entertainment will launch the long-anticipated, vivid, tribal music-RPG Patapon 2 Remastered on PlayStation 4 this month.

The innovative, rhythm-based action game was first introduced over two years ago at PlayStation Experience in 2017. Nick Accordino, a producer at Sony, shared a release date of January 30, 2020, on the PlayStation blog. He also announced a new trailer.

Patapon 2 Remastered is an upgrade of the second title in the critically-acclaimed Patapon series. According to Accordino, the game is a direct remaster of the 2008 PlayStation Portable game, but with sharper 4K resolution.

The epic adventure unfolds when a Patapon tribe is stranded, cut off from its Zigoton allies on a strange new island after its ship is attacked by a kraken. The Patapon tribe then looks up to the player, who will find that they are a deity.

Accordino explained that players will take on the role of a leader of the Patapon army, who will use rhythmic drumbeat commands to combat enemies in search of the promised land—Earthend. The gameplay style is focused on combining an array of ‘chains of drumbeats’ together to defeat each game level.

Players will also have to simultaneously stick to the beat whilst collecting resources and equip the tribe army with the correct weapons and position to overcome each puzzle, grow the tribe, and lead them to victory.

Patapon 2 Remastered has distinctive gameplay utilising rhythm and action to march, attack, and defend from opposing armies. Accordino also unveiled many brand-new bosses, enemies, and ally encounters.

Additionally, Accordino emphasised a strong strategy element to gameplay: “Players will have to properly customize and build up the Patapon army, arm each soldier with weapons and armour, and position them correctly for battle.”

Accordino also said players can expect 30 missions involving hunting, escorting, exploring vibrant environments, and boss battles. Furthermore, he alluded to fans about new Patapon evolutions, an assortment of mini-games, “and more surprises.”

Patapon 2 Remastered launches exclusively on PlayStation 4 for USD$14.99 on January 30, 2020.
