The developer of the Outlast series, Red Barrels, have released the first teaser image for the recently announced sequel to the horror hit.
Outlast 2 was revealed at the tail-end of October, but since then we haven’t really heard anything new regarding the game. For those of you that missed the original announcement, here’s the official description of the game straight from the horses mouth.
“No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. OUTLAST 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.”
The developer has been answering some questions regarding the game via their Twitter feed, but not a whole lot just yet. One detail of note, however, is the fact that Outlast 2 will not take place in an insane asylum again. They’re going for a completely different setting this time around, according to this tweet:
@JrDamond No asylum this time around; we're going for a new setting.

As for other gameplay details, their Twitter account hints at the game playing very similarly to the original, which isn’t really much of a surprise. We’ll have to see if any new gameplay elements are incorporated based on who they develop as the main character. The use of a video camera was very prominent in the original due to the main character being a journalist.
We’re excited to see where Red Barrels takes Outlast 2 as the first one was one of our favorite games of 2014. Stay tuned for more details by following OnlySP on Facebook and Twitter. Outlast 2 is scheduled to arrive on the PC, Xbox One and PS4 this Fall.
