[intro-text size=”25px”]Welcome back for this week’s, Week in Review! It’s been a pretty hectic week here at OnlySP and things are looking pretty bright in our future.[/intro-text]

OnlySP Status Update

OnlySP as you can see went through a major design overhaul this past week and we think its the best the site has ever looked. As I noted in my May 2015 update article, this new look offers a lot of features we haven’t had in the past and will make our articles look much, much more professional and creative than they ever have before.

We’re also actively working to be more organized with our article, media and event postings. We’ve gone back to using an internal schedule process to make sure we have things out in a timely manner and are continually posting interesting pieces for you to read.

We’ve also added our new Streaming Schedule to the sidebar on the homepage. We plan to stream every Tuesday and Thursday, with Tuesday’s being dubbed New Game Sessions and Thursday’s dubbed OnlySP LIVE.

New Game Session is exactly that, we’ll be doing our best to share a new game with you every Tuesday. This Tuesday we’ll be showing of a new first person parkour game called, Lemma. On Thursday’s we’ll bring you OnlySP LIVE where someone from our media team will play a game of their choosing, and eventually, when we have a larger audience, your choosing.

While we normally do more giveaways than we have this year, we’re really working hard to make our annual Summer Giveaway series event this Summer something big and exciting. I’ll have more details to share with you on that in early May, but if all goes according to plan, this will be a different type of event than you’ve become accustomed to.

Personal Update

As most of you know, I’ve been finishing up my Sophomore semester at school and in a recent turn of events, I have decided to change my major from Business Management to Multimedia Journalism. I kinda decided to do that at the last minute, so I’m a tad screwed for classes next semester, but I figured it was the right choice to make considering what I do each and every day. It’s an interesting road ahead for me, but I’m excited to become better at what I’m already doing and have some form of credentials to back me up.

As for gaming, I haven’t played much of anything this past week. Most of my time has been put towards studying for my finals this coming week and watching Red Wings playoff hockey. I do have a copy of State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition to review, so you’ll have that by the end of this week. In short, it doesn’t look much different than the 360 or PC version in terms of graphics, aside from looking a tad crisper due to the upped resolution.

I also just got copies of Thief and Sunset Overdrive thanks to the new trade-in service called Leaptrade. They asked us to do a review of their service and provided me some credit to make some trades, so I’ll have a review on that as well very soon.

Other than all of that, I’m continuing development of OnlySP, making changes here and there, but most everything is done. If you have any suggestions or feedback for us, please let me know and we’ll make adequate changes. There’s a few things I’m still working on fixing like the sidebar width, but most everything else is minor adjustments.

So, what did you do this week single players? Let us know in the comments and be sure to tune in next weekend for another week in review!

  1. For me, the week has been pretty boring and dull game-wise, because of impending college finals (and I’m graduating in May with my BS Microbiology degree!).

But, since this is my first ever update, a few weeks ago, I did finally finish Final Fantasy Tactics for the Playstation 1. Epic story, epic characters, and a very Game-of-Thrones-like feel sum up this old-school gem.

As for writing, well, like I said, completing my degree is priority number one, so I have been extremely slacking in writing up my feature articles that I should be pumping out every week. But I’ll do my best to do one every week until my graduation in mid-May, after which I should be free.

How about you, Single Players? How was your Week in Review? Please let us know!

  2. Great post, Nick. I’ve changed my major twice :x so I feel your pain. Thanks for checking out Leaptrade and I can’t wait to see what you think about our community and platform! Enjoy the rest of your week :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by Lissa!

  3. Great job on trying to further improve the site’s organisation, it’s looking a lot more streamlined now.

Speaking of services like Leaptrade, EA Origin has given out copies of the original Syndicate, bringing the nostalgia back for me this week.

  4. I really dig the new site theme. Easy to read, easy to navigate. I was a little under the weather this past week but it has been exciting doing weekly streams so far, and now there’s a whole page on the site dedicated to OSP streams. As far as gaming goes I’ve been putting a lot of time into Titan Souls after beating it on stream and the let’s play. I’ve also gotten into a roguelike binge playing games like Rogue Legacy, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, etc. We’re all working hard to pump out new and exciting content, and we’re now one week closer to Witcher 3! HYPE

  5. My week was fun, played some BL2 & MKX on Xbox One. Good times all around. You sound like you’ve been busy! Hope things lighten up :D

    1. I’ve gotten old, I’ve seen one or two finishers in MKX (from Conan’s Clueless gamer actually) and it’s too far for me… also, get off my lawn

  6. Beat Army of Two: The Devi’s Cartel with my buddy. Really impressed by this entry in the series. Would like to see another entry in the series on next gen.

  7. Enjoying the design overhaul and looking forward to your leaptrade review :-) I’ve dabbled with both gametz and cheapassgamer recently which each have their own strengths.

I had a pretty productive SP week.

    >I started Dragon Age Origins on my 360 to knock that off the backlog and I’ll pick up inquisition after that (already played DA II).
    >Started and finished Hohokum on Vita (finished as in I found all the snakes; but am short plenty of other collectables (will likely trophy hunt a little bit next)
    >Started a playthrough of Mega Man X4 on the vita because I was hyped for shovel knight but wanted to make sure I still can enjoy and play games of the older formulas. Didn’t feel bad looking up what order to do things and some power ups I missed, but making my fingers do action. Enjoy it a lot! (crazy side note: actually had to swap to abandon playing with my right thumb in favor of playing with three fingers from my right hand to be able to charge, dash, and jump sufficiently to progress through one challenge. I was proud of myself for reprogramming myself a little bit.) Currently, I’m through 5 bosses, so 3 left + whatever sigma levels.

So, more dragon age to come, going to finish off mega man, and then maybe shovel knight ;-) ;-) haha.

  8. The website is looking great! Much cleaner and crisper!

I’ve been playing some Life is Strange this week, great game, my favourite episodic series so far.

I wouldn’t worry to much Nick, I use to do Information Technology, and now im doing Journalism :P

  9. Looking forward to the big summer giveaway. As always a little behind on podcasts, but it’s finals week so gotta catch up. I’d still like a “black” option for the background! Too much white :P

Also Shovel Knight would be the SP of the week :D

  10. This weekend i was working on finishing Assassin’s Creed: Rogue. Fable 3, We are Doomed and Hand of Fate. I’ve played way too much videogames that i forgot about my own reality. Has this ever happened to you?

    1. Congratulations! You’ve won the Shovel Knight code for either the PS4 or Xbox One. Let us know your platform of preference and we’ll send the code!

  11. I had a SUPER busy week but still managed to makes some time for bloodborne which gives me a jolly ol’ thrashing but I keep coming back to it ^_^. Keep up the good work on the site and thanks for the giveaway!

  12. This week I FINALLY got all of the achievement points in Titanfall. I know everyone likes to hate on the game but I think it is amazing. It is certainly my favorite online multiplayer game this generation so far. Other than that I picked up Bloodborne and have started that game. I’m getting my butt kicked, but I plan to keep trying.

Thanks for the opportunity at Shovel Knight!

  13. Just saw your site on Twitter — seems like a nice, chill place to chat. The games I played this week include

    – Put in Dragon Age Inquisition for the first time on Xbone. I can see all the appeal.
    – Wrapped up Kirby & the Rainbow Curse. This is going to be my WiiU game of the year. Not sure why it got hate. The kiddie themes arent awful and as a single player experience it is unlike anything else I played this year.
    – Family was over so we played some Fantasia. The classical music in that game is a blast to play. This game + surround sound = fan-freaking-tastic

    1. It is a nice place to chill and chat! Welcome to the community and good luck with Dragon Age!

  14. I have been sucked into Mortal Kombat X. After a marathon session through the story mode I gave the online a shot. I went 17-0 in ranked matches right off the bat… Then I started getting matched with good players and am only winning about 50% of my matches now. The tower system keeps me obsessed.

  15. One of my friends on steam got me into Dark Souls II again and I’ve been putting a lot of time into it. I was stuck on a few bosses but my friend helped me take a few out. Then I was able to make some progress before requiring the help of the internet again to defeat this Darklurker boss. I used a guide/walkthrough because teammates can’t be summoned in that area.
I was also playing some Dying Light co-op with my friend, we did a lot of swearing at each other through the mic but I had fun.

  16. As soon as I downloaded the Mario Kart 8 DLC I have been playing it nonstop. Even the old school tracks are a blast. I haven’t touched my Xbox One since the DLC came out. Shovel Knight with Battletoads might be the game to do it!

  17. Randomly I picked up a copy of Goat Simulator and actually like it. I put almost five hours into the game. I also am running through every single Halo campaign on Legendary in anticipation of the Master Chief Collection! It isn’t part of this week, but I beat Halo 1 last week and that game has not aged well. There are too many corridors that look exactly the same. Besides that, the levels each take like 60 – 90 minutes to beat. Halo 2 has been much more enjoyable with the remastered graphics and Blur’s stunning cut scenes. The game is tough as nails, but I am remembering it much more fondly than the original Halo.

  18. MKX is my life. I have not played a MK in a looooooooong time, but I decided to give this one a shot. Dang glad I did, too. The fatalities are gory as all heck but the combat is so crisp. It can’t be beat.
