Welcome back to yet another Week in Review by yours truly. I very much enjoyed our last one and all the discussions that we got to have so I hope a bunch of you have returned for his one.
So this week has been pretty interesting for OnlySP. I’ve been making a lot of promises for the past year about the content that we’d be bringing your way and we’ve finally started delivering on that. Our newest feature video editor, Anthony Dees, made a very strong debut this past week with his first entry in our new series of videos called, The Beautiful World.
It’s a very well put together video and is exactly the kind of content we want to be delivering here on OnlySP. His next video will be covering the open world of The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine and I expect it to be even better. In addition to that, we will also be jumping into the live-streaming game here at OnlySP. After conducting some reader surveys on Facebook and Twitter and getting positive responses to both, however small they were, they were enough to convince me that we have an audience will to tune in to a livestream once a week here at OnlySP.
So that is happening. We’re still discussing dates and times, but as of right now it’s looking like it’ll be on Wednesday evenings. The plan is to use this time to stream new single player games every week and maybe (MAYBE) giveaway some free stuff while we’re at it. But that’ll only happen if we get a good number of you to show up and tune in.
Planning continues for E3 here as well and I’ve got to say, we’ve got a pretty awesome line-up in terms of appointments and hands-on stuff. As I said before, we’re bringing two camera sets for multi-angle interviews when possible, and as of last week we’ll also be bringing an Elegato to the show as well so we can get you direct feed footage when possible as well. I’m super excited to get out there and start covering things for you guys and I know we’re gonna present you with some top notch coverage.
As for next week, be on the lookout for our next feature interview which covers the extremely interesting looking game, All Walls Must Fall by Inbetween Games. Daniel Spina will be making his debut on the site with his first feature interview, so be sure to read it when you get a chance.
PERSONAL GAMING UPDATE
I finally found some time to finish DOOM this week and man those were some damn hard fights at the end of the game. It dragged on for a little bit in my opinion and the ending of the game was a little less than satisfying, but it was definitely an enjoyable ride. I still prefer the Wolfenstein reboot over the DOOM reboot though, I like having a narrative and the combat was just a bit more fun for me. But DOOM is great, very fun campaign with lots of replayability and I haven’t even touched SnapMap yet.
However, it’ll be a bit before I even bother touching that as I’ve just picked up Life is Strange during a flash deal on PSN. Got the complete season for $9.99 and played through the first episode and came away very impressed. The game is tackling some very real issues in the world and I love it. Once I finish up my summer classes this week I’ll get Episode 2 started. Do not spoil the game for me, I will find you and tell you everything you don’t want to know about games you’ve never played.
That’s about it for me this past week. This week I’ve got quite a few quizzes to take that I procrastinated on and then I need to finish up my feature story on Game Development in the Midwest for my feature writing class. It’s turned out really good so far I think, just need to finish up the second part, but I can’t do that until I get the answers I need back from a certain studio. So, hopefully those get returned to me tomorrow!
This week we will be giving away a free code for Valkyria Chronicles Remastered on the PS4. I have no idea what those games are about, but I know a bunch of you do from previous coverage of the game. As per usual, all you have to do to enter is leave your own personal gaming update below AND let us know if you’ll be tuning into our once a week livestream sessions because the more feedback I have on that, the better.
The winner will be selected on Tuesday morning!
Have a good week everyone!
