With a promise to bring back ’90s-styled FPS action in the vein of DOOM, Hellbound has reached its crowdfunding goal on the last day of its campaign.

The game sought—and has now earned—USD$40,000 from crowdfunding, which the development team, Saibot Studios, will use to expand upon the currently available ‘Survival Mode,’ as well as create the first level of the single-player campaign. That vertical slice will then be used in an attempt to attract investors to fund creation of the full game.

The developers set a stretch goal of $100,000 as a target to create the game entirely independently, but that is unlikely to be reached at the present time.

While the survival mode will remain free to all users, the campaign and Heroes’ Cemetery playspace will only be available to backers and those who purchase the title after release. Platforms have not yet been announced, but the survival mode is currently available on Steam. Meanwhile, the fruits of the Kickstarter campaign are expected to be available in May 2019.

At the time of writing, the game was less that $500 above its funding target with 18 hours remaining to collect additional money.
