Oddworld Inhabitants has released a statement justifying its decision to sign an exclusivity deal with the Epic Games Store for the upcoming Oddworld: Soulstorm

Via a post on Twitter, series creator Lorne Lanning explained that Soulstorm is the team’s most ambitious entry yet, and with that comes higher development costs.

Until now, the game has received no external funding, but Epic, as has been the case in previous deals, has provided an advance on PC sales in return for exclusivity.

Lorne continues that he wants to give fans the best game possible and to do that the team needs more money for the development.

The tweet has received a mixed response, with many people pledging to refuse to purchase the game on the Epic Games Store. However, the game will still release on the same day on consoles.
