Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive have announced that they are hard at work on a brand new RPG due out by the end of 2016 called Tyranny.
In Tyranny, the grand war between good and evil is over –and the forces of evil, led by Kyros, the Overlord, have won. The Overlord’s merciless armies dominate the face of the world, and its denizens must find their new roles within the war-torn realm. Players interact with the population of the populace to inspire loyalty, disgust, or fear as they roam the world as an officer in Kyros’ forces, empowered to act as both judge and executioner.
Or as the game’s tagline states: “Sometimes, Evil Wins.”
Promising a vast, open world where your decisions and actions have deep consequences for the world around you, Tyranny looks like it could be a rather fun spin on the traditional fantasy RPG. If you’ve ever wondered what Middle Earth would have been like if Sauron had won, then Tyranny looks like it’ll give you a fairly good idea – As well as your own Shire to scour, if you’re into that kind of thing.
