mario remaster rumor

Rumors have started circulating that Nintendo has major plans for Mario’s 35th anniversary including several Mario remasters.

VGC has reported that, according to multiple sources, Nintendo was planning a large event during E3 this year in order to celebrate the anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. Due to E3’s cancellation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nintendo has had to rethink its announcement strategy.

For the event, Nintendo was reportedly planning to announce remasters of several beloved titles including Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. The report also suggests that several new titles were planned to be announced such as a new iteration in the Paper Mario series and a follow-up to Super Mario 3D World.

In addition to these remasters, Nintendo also reportedly has plans to reveal new info on the Super Nintendo World theme park and its upcoming Lego sets. When VGC reached out to Nintendo for information on these rumors, Nintendo responded saying it, “does not comment on rumor and speculation.”

The bulk of these Mario remasters will reportedly launch within 2020 and will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, but no date has been specified for an official announcement event or any release dates as of yet.
