Disgaea 5 is coming to PS4 later this year

The newest edition to the Disgaea series Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, is making its way to PS4 later this year to fill the gap in PlayStation Exclusives for this fall.

Japanese Role Playing Games have often found a home on PlayStation consoles, which is very true for the Disgaea series which has predominantly  been exclusive to Sony consoles. Disgaea is a Japanese tactical role-playing series, which is known for having complex gameplay mechanics and often ridiculous stats for individual characters.

Story wise, the Disgaea 5 plot revolves around the theme of revenge, with characters actively seeking it and revenge being part of some new game mechanics to this edition. Killia, the lead protagonist, is a young demon who aims to end the reign of an Overload called the ‘Dark Void’, who is enslaving numerous Netherworlds within the game.

Players will lead Killia and an army of rebels against the Dark Void on a path of vengeance with the usual quirky and strange humor the franchise is well-known for.

Newest Edition to the Disgaea series coming to PS4 this fall

On the NIS America store page you can find more details and features about the game. Here are some of the features you can expect to see later this year in Disgaea 5:

Alliance Attacks:
New to the Disgaea series, your relationship with your teammates influences a new battle system called “Alliance Attack.” These special moves are only available to main characters and only when their relationships are appropriately aligned.

Recruitment:
A familiar feature for the Disgaea faithful, this system lets you choose from over 40 races and jobs, and identify new party members with the exact traits you desire.

Revenge Mode:
A game about vengeance wouldn’t be complete without a character stat boosting system based on revenge, would it? The Revenge Mode empowers your characters with bonus stats when they’ve become fed up of their allies being beat on.

Explore the Netherworlds:
While previous games in the series have shown a glimpse of the darkness that is the Netherworlds, Disgaea® 5 takes you to a myriad of those dark lands.

Definitely over 9,000:
In true Disgaea fashion, Disgaea® 5 harnesses the power of the PlayStation®4 to deliver battles with a ridiculous number of enemies and outrageous damage.

Players can preorder Disgaea 5 from the NIS America store right now and get the Limited Edition which includes a Collectors box, Disgaea 5 for PS4, Hardcover Art book, two-disc complete soundtrack, Usalia Figure and a Tear Resistant Poster shown below.

  1. I can’t wait for this come out. For the longest I’ve been anticipating another disgaea. Now I’m surprised that you can have up to 100 people on one battlefield. Also they estimate this game is over 45 hours of game-play, so I can’t wait for it to come out.

    1. That’s crazy! (in regards to 100 characters on screen at once) But at the same time it doesn’t surprise me! The Disgaea series always loves to push their mechanics and units on screen to the maximum. I ca’t wait either, I had the third one on vita and I love it so much, the humor especially just hits the spot perfectly.
