A new trailer by Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor – Martyr developers Neocore Games shows how blood and gore will work in their up-and-coming title.

The trailer explains that “every bolter shot, every chainsword strike has an impact.” This includes slowing enemies down, shattering their armor, or sending them flying through the air like meat, watching them as they attempt to crawl to their feet. There are also promises of being able to aim at a particular part of your foe during the bigger, meaner fights in hopes to sever it and disable particular attacks. In addition, sometimes you’ll be able to execute the heretical beast in front of you in different ways depending on the manner of monster you’re putting down.

Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor – Martyr is an open-world, action-RPG by the same developers of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. This here lies the crux of my feelings towards this title. I liked the first game in the series, but grew bored and tired by the third one. Although, I am excited for an open-world romp around the grim-dark universe that is Warhammer 40k, and the destructible environments and people are steps in the right direction for me. Right now, I’m cautiously optimistic until I hear more of the gameplay.

As of now, Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor – Martyr will be released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2016.
