Sword combat is being added as the latest update to the ambitious medieval Kingdom Come: Deliverance Technical Alpha, with the update set to come out in June, announced via a new Kickstarter update.
Warhorse Studios have been running the Tech Alpha for a number of months now, slowly adding more content and game mechanics for players to test for them. However, up until now, the most interesting and critical mechanic of the game, sword combat, has not been available to players, but is coming as part of a larger update including:
- Combat: 1-on-1 combat with Long sword, featuring parrying, ripostes and combos
- New location: introducing a new village and surrounding countryside
- Travel: horse riding is now available
- Quests: new quests featuring alchemy, lock picking or grave digging
- Localization: in addition to English voice-overs you can now choose German or French subtitles
The new location added is called Merhojed village, with some new screenshots released showing off the new village and the incredible visuals of the game.
The game was originally funded through Kickstarter early last year, with incredible success leading to the developers being able to not only fund the game, but add numerous more features and content to the end product.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a realistic, single player Role Playing game, set in medieval Europe with absolutely not fantasy involved. One of the main aims of the project is to provide a down to earth experience, with deep realistic melee combat, allowing players greater control over their attacks than ever before.
Although the game was set to come out in late 2015 during the Kickstarter campaign, the developers announced back in April that the title had been delayed until Summer 2016 so they could implement all the features they want in the game.
The video below showcases a number of features the developers hope to implement into the final version of the game, including the advanced innovative melee combat in action. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is set to come out in the Summer of 2016 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
