Human Head Studios has released the first gameplay trailer for Rune: Ragnarok today.
Rune: Ragnarok is the second game in the Rune franchise and is being built on the Unreal Engine 4. The game is being billed as a Viking RPG and will take place in an open world inspired by Norse mythology. The trailer is from a pre-alpha build of the game and features voice over work from Lee Ernst, the voice actor of Loki from the original Rune, which was released all the way back in 2001 on the PC.
The story synopsis for the title from the press release follows:
“Inspired by the legends of Norse mythology, Rune: Ragnarok takes place in a perilous universe during the end of days, where gods, beasts, and the last remaining humans struggle to survive. Upon pledging allegiance to their chosen god, players gain divine favor and special abilities to aid them in their quest. Sail to new lands, raid enemy villages, battle supernatural creatures in brutal melee combat, and craft powerful weapons to take down Loki and bring an end to Ragnarok.”
Few details have been released about Ragnarok thus far, but more details will be released in the run up to release. Currently Rune: Ragnarok has only been announced for the PC.
