If you’ve followed the Velocity Gamer Network since the very beginning, you may recall that I have mentioned several times that Valkyria Chronicles is easily among my favourite games. The visual style, the endearing characters and the rarely used game design combined to create an experience that I have enjoyed more than just about anything else this generation, in spite of seeing much that is more awe-inspiring and technically proficient. The second game was quite as enjoyable, despite being relegated to the PSP and the third remains exclusive to Japan.

Bearing all of this in mind, you should be able to understand my excitement when I happened upon the knowledge that Sega has filed a trademark for ‘Valkyria Duel’. Whatever it pans out to be may have little to do with the rest of the series to date. It could be an iOS game or… well, anything, but the mere mention of the word Valkyria in connection with Sega is enough to get my imagination and heart racing. You can bet that I’ll be following this with all the intensity of a trained bloodhound.

Along with this listing came two others: ‘Galaxy Conquest’ and ‘Ryu Ga Gotoku Kizuna’. The latter of these is an already released iOS spin-off of the Yakuza series, while the former remains undetailed.
