If you spend your free nights sailing the seven seas, wearing a hook, and refusing to brush your teeth, you may want to keep an eye out for Piranha Bytes’ upcoming pirate-themed ARRRR-PG (sorry for that); Risen 2: Dark Waters.

This latest trailer showcases some of the game’s story elements, revealing the protagonist to be the hero from the first Risen, now a washed-up alcoholic called up to help unite the warring Pirates and fight the Kraken. Let’s be honest, if the game took any more inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney would have to file a lawsuit. Nevertheless, the setting is unique in the world of games and Piranha has been known for making solid RPGs. I’d keep an eye on this one.

I’ll be doing an extensive preview on the title soon. Until then, grab a keg o’ rum and enjoy this trailer.

  1. The trailer actually looks quite poor, but I am still hoping to get my hands on the game.

  2. Yeah, the story does look like a bit of an afterthought, but I'm sure the core RPG experience will be engaging. Watch out for my preview of the game coming soon… it might rekindle your interest.

  3. oh no, dont get me wrong. I didn't like the trailer, it really shows almost everything that's wrong with the game itself, but having played Risen 1 I want to finish the sequel too.It is typical wRPG and it shows so much that it was made by the Gothic guys. Hence why i like it.
