Red Dead Redemption II

Rockstar Games has released a new trailer for the hotly-anticipated Red Dead Redemption II, which reveals some brief story details.

Although retaining the Wild West setting of the previous game, this sequel replaces former protagonist John Marston with a new outlaw named Arthur Morgan. The new character is part of a group known as the Van der Linde gang, which is wanted in three different territories, but little else is known at this point.

The new trailer fails to confirm previous rumours that the game will include a much larger map encompassing both the areas included in the previous Red Dead Redemption and a frontier version of Mafia III’s New Bordeaux, though a brief glimpse at a swamp and an alligator points to the possibility of the latter. The footage also hints at the return of several features from the previous game, including horse training and wildlife hunting, as well as the possibility of set piece heists similar to those found in Grand Theft Auto V.

Red Dead Redemption II remains without a precise release date for now, but is currently scheduled to launch in spring next year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, following an earlier postponement that pushed it out of 2017.
