New details about a rumored DLC for Borderlands 2, called ‘Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary’, have been leaked on Steam.

Rumours emerged last month that the DLC will serve as a story bridge between Borderlands 2 and the upcoming Borderlands 3. However, a now-removed Steam listing recently went up and provided more information about the DLC:

Return to the award winning shooter-looter for a new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault’s map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Fight new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary) and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet.

According to the Steam listing, the DLC is set to go live on June 9.

The DLC is expected to be compatible with the current generation port of Borderlands 2 in the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Less clear is whether or not the DLC will work with the last generation versions of the game on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Borderlands 3 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and new DLC for the previous entries will certainly invigorate interest in the franchise again. However, the game also has seen its share of controversy, including being a timed Epic Games Store exclusive on PC, as well as CEO Randy Pitchford not asking a Troy Baker to reprise his voice acting role for his character, and allegations against Pitchford for abuse.

Borderlands 3 is set to be released on September 13, 2019.
