With E3 in full swing, TaleWorlds Entertainment, the developer and publisher behind Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, has uploaded two new gameplay trailers to showcase some of the game’s qualities.
Each trailer is from the viewpoint of a sergeant in their respective military, each aligned with a different faction. Taking orders from their lord or king, the sergeants must accomplish certain objectives to help their allies achieve victory. Both sergeants in the videos lead cavalry formations, and issue commands to their soldiers based on the king’s (lord’s) orders.
One sergeant wields a shield and spear, and must use his cavalry to protect the king’s foot soldiers from the opposing army’s cavalry charges. The second sergeant, also on horseback, wields a bow and arrow, which he uses to lead his cavalry in skirmish attacks that pepper the enemy with arrows. The latter sergeant also wields a sword in the event he runs out of arrows. Watch both gameplay trailers below:
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is an upcoming Medieval action-RPG. Announced in 2012, the game is a prequel to the 2010 game Mount & Blade: Warband. Taking place 200 years before the game’s predecessor, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord features the decline of the Calradian Empire, and the formation of the kingdoms in the previous games. Similar to the fall of the Roman Empire, the Calradian Empire’s fall leads to the formation of many different factions that are analogous to those of early Middle Eastern, North African, and European kingdoms.
No release date has been confirmed by TaleWorlds Entertainment, but rumors speculate Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will be out sometime in 2017 for Windows PC.
