In an announcement confirming the western release of Dynasty Warriors 9, Koei Tecmo provided more in-depth information regarding the most ambitious Dynasty Warriors to date.

As has been reported, Dynasty Warriors 9 will be the first open-world installment in the series. “Players will explore China as it existed when feudal warlords vied for dominance over the land.” Omega Force, the developer behind the Dynasty Warriors series, will be overhauling the game’s world map to encompass most, if not all, of Ancient China. In previous installments, maps only covered individual battlefields. The map will present day and night weather patterns across various landscapes. “Exploring these impressive environments is made more engaging through the ability to adapt to surroundings to gain an upper hand in battle, with players able to use equipment to circumvent obstacles or blend in to avoid conflict.”

Two different types of missions will be debuting in Dynasty Warriors 9: Critical Missions and Regular Missions. These missions blend together and can be experienced from the perspectives of over eighty-three different characters.

Koei Tecmo and its different branches will be releasing more information pertaining to Dynasty Warriors 9 in the coming months. Information to be made available later in the year includes platforms on which the game will be available, release dates, and further updates on the game’s new features, characters, and narrative.

Dynasty Warriors 9 is being developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo. The game is the first in a lengthy series of hack-and-slash combat to implement an open-world environment. However, the “one versus thousands” action for which the series is known will be returning to accompany the game’s new, ambitious features.
