Microsoft Studios Ninja Theory

Microsoft Studios just announced it will be increasing its first party lineup by almost double the size, with highlights including Compulsion Game and Ninja Theory.

Most of the criticisms Microsoft has faced, especially in recent memory, are directed at the publisher’s first party titles. During Microsoft’s E3 conference, it was revealed that the company is adding five more studios under its belt. Names like Undead Labs, most famous for State of Decay, and Playground Games, the team that primarily works on the Forza series, are predictable picks to say the least.

The real surprise came from Ninja Theory, who recently gained a lot of respect and praise after it released the critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The game originally launched as a PlayStation timed-exclusive, so this news is not only fantastic news for Ninja Theory as it will likely see massive budget increase, but for Microsoft as well.

Ninja Theory has released an update video describing its decision to move under the Microsoft Studios roof.

The full list of new first party studios is Ninja Theory, Playground Games, The Initiative, The Compulsion, and Undead Labs.

Michael fell into the OnlySP team toward the end of 2017. You’ll mostly catch his work over in the news area, but that doesn’t mean he won’t dip into the features section every now and then. For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
