Obsidian

Microsoft may be close to finalizing a deal to purchase Obsidian Entertainment.

The news comes via Kotaku’s news editor Jason Schreier, who broke the story. According to Schreier, he has had three sources confirm the news that the deal could be finalized at any moment.

One of Schreier’s sources says that the deal is 90 percent complete, while another went as far as to say “[it’s] a matter of when, not if.”

Obsidian is best known for its work on Fallout New Vegas as well as South Park: The Stick of Truth. The developer has managed to produce some of the more standout RPG titles of the last decade, so Microsoft adding them under its newly refined belt of first party studio could be a huge win for the publisher.

Michael fell into the OnlySP team toward the end of 2017. You’ll mostly catch his work over in the news area, but that doesn’t mean he won’t dip into the features section every now and then. For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
