In 1987, Metal Gear burst onto the scene and brought forth a unique series that is still going strong today. Now,  almost 30 years later, a group of independent modders have plans to remake the game and have received the official thumbs up from Konami. Best of all? It’s going to be completely free.

The modder team (known collectively as Outer Heaven) received word from Konami that they approve Outer Heaven’s plans to remake the 1987 classic Metal Gear, so long as they do not profit from selling the finished product. Therefore, Outer Heaven are simply releasing the game for free.

However, the project is still in the infant stages and does require a lot of help. If you know your game design inside and out, have a good knowledge of C++ and you’re interested in having your name on the credits, be sure to get in touch with [email protected] if you want to help out.
