In a strange turn of events, a total remaster of the PlayStation One title MediEvil has been announced during tonight’s PlayStation Experience (PSX) event.

Sir Daniel and the cult classic hack-and-slash game have been dying for some sort of revival since MediEvil: Resurrection released back in 2005. Now, the game has the opportunity to find new life with a 4K remaster from the ground up, similar to the Crash Bandicoot trilogy earlier this year.

The last time player’s saw the armored skeleton was as a guest character in 2012’s Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale.

The announcement came as a last minute stinger for the PSX kick-off event, when Sony CEO Shawn Layden revealed that he was wearing a MediEvil shirt under his jacket.

Details were incredibly limited as the only footage shown was a short teaser featuring Sir Daniel’s classic muffled narration. The only indicator of more information came with the “more details coming soon” text that closed out the short trailer.

Though details are scarce, be sure to keep up to date with what is to come for MediEvil’s rebirth on OnlySP’s Twitter and Facebook.

Michael fell into the OnlySP team toward the end of 2017. You’ll mostly catch his work over in the news area, but that doesn’t mean he won’t dip into the features section every now and then. For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
