Medal of Honor: Warfighter got it’s first reveal trailer today ahead of a full reveal later this week. The trailer showcases mostly teaser footage, but we also get glimpses of gameplay, which running on the Frostbite 2.0 engine looks very similar to Battlefield 3. We also get a release date of October 23, 2012. Check out the trailer below.

Along with the first trailer quite a few new details were released about the game in the Official Press Release.

First off, Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be powered by the Frostbite 2.0 engine which is essentially becoming EA’s main choice for their games. Just last week we reported on Dead Space 3 possibly even running  on the engine. Can’t say were exactly surprised though as Frostbite 2.0 is damn powerful. Using the Frostbite 2.o engine you can expect slick visuals and amazing sound quality.

More interesting details to us though revolve around the story. According to the press release we won’t only see the battlefields, but also get a first hand look at the more personal side of war. With real Tier 1 operators working on the game, this is their way to share their stories with the world. Citing from the press release, the story told “reveals the heartbreaking side of war, told through the eyes of military families.”

Other shooters have tried to pull this off in one way or another, Homefront being the closest to reaching that goal in my opinion, but ultimately failing to create that emotional war experience gamers are waiting for. Maybe Danger Close has the real ambition to do so this time around and with a bigger team of actual military personnel working behind the scenes, I’m very excited to have the chance to hear their stories.

What do you think? Can Danger Close with the help of the Tier 1 personnel pull of an engaging military shooter? Or will we once again have the developers tell us the game will be an emotional experience only to have it be a shoot em up. Let us know in the comments.

  1. This should be a good competitor for BlackOps2.
