Telltale Games has released the first-ever trailer for its adaptation of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

The trailer, which you can view below, gives viewers a taste of what to expect from the Telltale-treatment of the pop culture phenomenon. Fusing together the trademark Telltale style of animation and the lore and humor of Marvel properties, Season One (and I’m assuming here that there will end up being more than one, but I might be wrong) is chock-full of more potential than Chris Pine’s Star-Lord in the upcoming Volume 2 movie while listening to his Awesome Mix tapes. Yeah, I went there.

The Telltale series is slated to span five episodes for this season (for now). Tangled in Blue, the title for Episode One of the season, is due out on on April 18th. The series will also be available in a single Season Pass Disc physical retail form on May 2nd at retailers across North America and on May 5th for the rest of the world. The Season Pass Disc from retailers will come with Episode One pre-loaded on the disc, along with access to download the subsequent four episodes via online updates as they are released in the coming months of 2017.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is a brand new story featuring the same band of five unlikely heroes as the blockbusting Hollywood movie: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of them has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands.

From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, you wear the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, where your decisions and actions drive the story you experience. And of course, there’s also that purple guy with the Infinity Gauntlet named Thanos, too…but who cares, you get to play as Star-Lord…right?

Get ready to play as Peter Quill (better known by his intergalactic name, Star-Lord) and listen to “I am Groot” all day everyday when Episode One: Tangled in Blue releases April 18th, or May 2nd and 5th (depending on where you live) if you prefer to have a physical retail version.

What do you think of how Telltale appears to be approaching the beloved Marvel team (at least visually, since we don’t have any gameplay footage yet)? Sound off in the comments below! And feel free to peruse four more screenshots from the game below, too!
