Mark of the Ninja is being remastered, with its release coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One on October 9.
Originally released in 2012, the title was critically lauded for its excellent stealth mechanics and level design, offering up an almost perfect 2D stealth experience. Since then its developer, Klei Entertainment, worked on the Don’t Starve series, amongst other indie-style excursions.
The original Mark of the Ninja was absent from Nintendo consoles, instead finding a home on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The remastered version is light on any meaty additions, but it does come bundled with a commentary track, new visuals and items, a new level, plus a new character.
A trailer was also released, confirming a release window of autumn 2018. However, Nintendo accidentally leaked out that the Switch version would be coming out October 9, with Klei then confirming to Destructoid that the date will be the same for all versions of the game.
Mark of the Ninja will fit nicely on the Switch, with the game’s punishing difficulty, fast respawn time, and refined take on stealth being as enthralling now as it was six years ago.
