If you’ve been excited to get a hold of new information for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, today was your lucky day.  Earlier, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA)  had several exciting news items to unload on their fans.  Most surprising, and certainly appreciated, was a pre-launch price drop.

A standard retail title, Thieves in Time was set to be released at $59.99 on the PlayStation 3 and $39.99 on the PlayStation Vita.  However, Cristian Cardona of PlayStation.Blog announced today that Sony would be reducing the launch price to $39.99 for the PlayStation 3 and $29.99 for the PlayStation Vita version.  Happy belated holidays indeed.  This still of course includes the Cross Buy feature, meaning fans can purchase the PlayStation 3 version at the reduced price and get the Vita version for free when Sly Cooper releases on February 5th in North America.

Also revealed today, PlayStation Plus members can expect a new demo to be made available on January 22nd.  This is an entirely new demo and not a re-released version of the one accessible to those who purchased the Ratchet & Clank Collection.  The demo exclusivity for Plus members ends on January 29th.  After that, all PlayStation 3 and Vita owners may then download it as they wish.

Finally, unveiled today was a new trailer (seen below) featuring Sly and friends in action.  It’s based around the first mission in the game set in Feudal Japan.  It shows off Sly’s six steps to completing a successful heist and the different styles of game play these steps will incorporate.  At the end of the trailer, Sanzaru Games gives a quick glimpse of the end heist battle with the level’s anthropomorphic tiger boss, El Jefe, voice by none other than Nolan North.

All in all, it’s been a pretty eventful day for fans of the series.  With the game’s release less than a month away, PlayStation owners don’t have much longer to wait until they are reunited with their favorite raccoon and his gang of buddies.
