Limbo was a very successful platformer when it first released on XBLA. So successful, in fact, that it eventually made its way to all platforms and has received numerous awards. Nobody could foresee that a sequel would be coming, but thanks to some grant money, it most certainly is.

The game, which is once again being developed by Danish developer Deadplay, is being made thanks to grant money from the Danish government. The sequel “tells the story of a boy’s struggle against evil forces trying to take over the world through questionable experiments on human bodies.” The game will still be a 2D platformer, and will feature “unique puzzles and changing scenarios.” It will reportedly be in color this time around as opposed to the original’s black and white aesthetic, though if the image above is any indication, the game will still sport a dark atmosphere. It is expected to release on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sounds interesting. Don’t forget that Limbo is included in the latest Humble Indie Bundle, which ends tomorrow. Snag it while you can!
