Life is Strange Prequel

Following yesterday’s announcement of the rebranding of Idol Minds to Deck Nine, the developer’s latest project has reportedly been outed as a Life is Strange prequel.

Rumblings of the project first emerged with the leaking of nine pieces of concept art to Imgur yesterday, showing off a redesigned version of Life is Strange’s Chloe in a range of situations. This game is reported to take place several years prior to the events of the original episodic series and focus on Chloe’s relationship with Rachel Amber.

The link to Deck Nine stems from French website GameKult, which reportedly found one of the pieces of concept art within the source code of the developer’s redesigned website (though this image has since been removed). If true, the development certainly tallies with Deck Nine’s claim to be working on a new entry in a critically-acclaimed franchise with the backing of a major publisher.

The game would also be a further continuation of the young adult series, with the original developers DONTNOD confirming last month that a sequel has already been in development for more than a year.

Whether today’s rumour is true or not, Deck Nine has confirmed that its game will be shown off at E3 later this month, meaning that the uncertainty will soon be cleared up.
