Level-5, the master JRPG studio that recently developed Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, has announced that “basically” all of its future titles will be released on the Nintendo Switch.
In a statement to Nikkei Trendy, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino stated that, “Basically, in the future our main titles will all be released on Nintendo Switch[, and] the idea is that what we have created for 3DS will move over to Switch.” (Thanks to Gematsu for the translation).
Level-5 is known for being an ardent supporter of the Nintendo 3DS, with only a few of its other major titles, most notably the Ni No Kuni series, releasing on other platforms. Even titles that were originally Sony-exclusive, such as Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, eventually made their way onto Nintendo’s portable.
Some of the studio’s big hits, including Professor Layton and Yo-Kai Watch, were Nintendo exclusives, so the two companies clearly share a strong business relationship.
Level-5’s next game, The Snack World: Trejarers Gold, is Switch exclusive and launches on April 12 in Japan. Fans of Level-5 can expect the terms “Level-5” and “Nintendo Switch” to go hand-in-hand for a few years to come.
