Creative Director, Tetsuya Nomura, revealed the switch to the new engine while speaking to Famitsu, in a recent interview with the magazine.  In the interview he revealed that the decision came about for “various reasons” during development.

The development team has been encountering problems with rendering, and Epic Games has been working with the studio to help them with any problems. However Nomura stated that the development is still on track.
