Mini-games have been a staple for the Kingdom Hearts series, but Kingdom Hearts 3 appears to be taking a more left-field approach to its side content by drawing inspiration from Game & Watch systems from the 1980s.

In a new trailer for the much anticipated title, developer Square Enix detailed a quick look of a vibrant looking Traverse Town before the series’s protagonists—Donald, Goofy, and Sora—pull out a Game & Watch device to play some Kingdom Hearts versions of classic 1980s titles.

Examples include reinterpretations of classics such as The Barnyard Battle, The Karnival Kid, Giantland, and Musical Farmer. No further details have been revealed regarding what these mini-games reward or the unlock criteria, but they look like a fun nostalgia-trip for an already nostalgia-heavy game.

Whilst fans may be disappointed at the lack of any meaty detail in this trailer compared to those released previously, the teaser still serves as a look of the title’s stunning visuals and art-style. Kingdom Hearts 3 has no release date as of yet, but will be releasing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime this year.
