In a recent interview with Digital Spy, BioShock creator Ken Levine discussed how he wants to make more “replayable” narratives for the next-generation of games. BioShock Infinite may only have had one mindblowing ending compared to the previous entries, but Levine wants to change his approach to interactive storytelling.
It’s sort of, you play it and have that experience, and I’ve been thinking about how you make narrative replayable. And that’s not a simple problem. It’s fairly complex. The combination of content and technology – I’ve been thinking about that.
Personally, I felt that once my playthrough of BioShock Infinite was over, I didn’t have any reason to replay it. Ken Levine wants to change this attitude but insists he’s still in the very early stages of his next project. Let’s hope he can deliver another astounding narrative.
