Sony has announced that John Wick Hex will launch on PlayStation 4 in May.
According to a PlayStation Blog post, players will be able to take control of Keanu Reeves’ Baba Yaga character from May 5, 2020.
The time-based strategy game has previously only been available on PC. Developer Ant Workshop has worked with Bithell Games to bring the title to consoles for the first time.
OnlySP’s Amy Campbell reviewed John Wick Hex last year. She awarded the game a Distinction (4/5), saying, “[it] is absurdly addictive. The thrill of the action, the fast-paced decision making, and the pride of overcoming difficult levels are all why this game succeeds on so many levels.”
OnlySP spoke to the game’s composer Austin Wintory earlier this year about the events that led to the collaboration on the game, as well as his initial predictions on the game’s reception.
Mike Bithell began working on John Wick Hex after discussing the movie franchise with a friend at Good Shepherd Entertainment. He had access to script material and Lionsgate also collaborated by making stuntmen and series director Chad Stahelski available.
The indie developer is perhaps best known for the 2012 game Thomas Was Alone. He also released the stealth game Volume in 2015 across a range of platforms, as well as Subsurface Circular in 2017 and Quarantine Circular in 2018.
