Once again, PC players are quids in with both Steam and Ubisoft offering up free titles for a limited time. Players with a Steam account can download indie horror Kholat, while those on the Ubisoft Store can snag a free copy of Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China.

Coming from Polish studio Imgn.Pro, Kholat follows the real-life mystery of nine students who went missing in Russia’s Ural Mountains in 1959. After venturing into the Kholat Syakhl (Dead Mountains), none of the students were seen alive again. Full of atmosphere, suspense, and Sean Bean’s voice, Kholat leans towards a decidedly more supernatural explanation of events. Check out the OnlySP review here and get it free now on Steam until February 4.

With the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles trilogy, Ubisoft took the franchise into the realm of 2D stealth-action set in China, India, and Russia. In Ubisoft’s latest free giveaway, players can jump into the boots of female assassin Shao Jun as she fights to save her homeland from a group calling themselves the Eight Tigers. An apprentice of fan-favourite Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Shao Jun’s story follows on directly from the canon movie Assassin’s Creed Embers, which players should definitely watch ahead of jumping into AC Chronicles: China. Sporting a gorgeous, hand-painted art style and featuring gameplay in the vein of old-school Prince of Persia, AC Chronicles: China is a worthy addition to the AC universe. Get it for free now on the Ubisoft store until February 5.
