What’s with the new fad of releasing a series of trailers under the guise of an episodic miniseries? Is it not enough to just be a trailer? I know it’s a trailer, you know it’s a trailer, they definitely know it’s a trailer, so why the insistance on calling it something else? It baffles the mind.

Regardless, here’s “Episode 1” of the new “series” – Tomb Raider: Guide To Survival. This video covers “Smart Resourceful Lara”, exploring some of the ways Lara can upgrade her skills and abilities. The video shows the base camp system, which allows players to upgrade Lara’s skills through XP, and gear through salvaged scrap. Lara also has a “survival instinct”, which apparently highlights puzzle elements and hidden items. The puzzles themselves appear to be reassuringly complex – let’s hope that what is shown in the video are just the beginning of the puzzling in the final game.

The trailer is below.

  1. The game looks okay, kind of like Uncharted. I bought a PS3 merely to play the Last of Us, whenever it comes out. At least Tomb Raider comes out on the PC. The previous titles have not been too cumbersome on the PC, so I think they may again design a UI that works there. Can&#039t find a Canadian pre-order though and nothing is on Steam that I can find, so I am going to wait for a Game of the Year Edition or something maybe.
