Super Stardust HD has taught us that melting asteroids in space can indeed be cool. Part of why it’s so rad is the game’s soundtrack, which we can’t help but bring into the spotlight today.

This track is titled “Nemain,” named after the planet it is featured on. What starts as a somber and restrained opening gradually build up to an explosion of sick beats that beautifully accompanies the in-game action. It manages to feel ‘spacey’ while still maintaining an intense pace, and manages to be entertaining no matter what context it’s attached to. That’s probably why it found its way onto my Ipod recently.

The piece was arranged and composed by Ari “Artz” Pulkkinen, who has also composed tracks for Angry Birds, Dead Nation, Trine 2, and other titles. You can check out his site here.
