It’s happened, folks. A video game soundtrack has finally been nominated for a Grammy, and it’s none other than the OST to this year’s artistic critical darling, Journey.

On the Grammy nominations page, under the category “Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media,” there lies a nomination for Journey’s soundtrack, giving credit to composer Austin Wintory and Sony.

For those unfamiliar with the Grammys, they are awards given out by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for outstanding acheivments in music and soundtracks. This marks the first time a game has ever been nominated, which is a big deal considering the awards have been active since 1959. Perhaps this means more games will be nominated in the future.

Currently, there’s no user voting segment, but you can still hope for the best from the official judges. The 55th Grammy Awards will happen on Feb. 10, 2013, airing exclusively on CBS.
