Ninja Theory’s Hellblade has been shaping up quite nicely over the past year.

The development team has recently finished up the Alpha stage of development for the game which means the game is currently playable from start to finish, and has all of the core mechanics in place.

“Completing the Alpha stage is significant in Hellblade’s creation,” said Hellblade developer Fran Mead in a press release. “It means that for the first time the entire game is playable from beginning to end. That doesn’t however mean that the game is finished. There is still a huge amount of work to be done across the whole experience. Some parts of the game are starting to look and feel just as we envisaged, whereas others are still only built to a basic level. The important thing at this stage is that all of the areas are laid out and the design clearly defined.

The new developer diary for the game shows off more actual gameplay footage than we’ve previously seen in any of the diaries thus far and it looks great. You can check out the developer diary at the bottom of this post to see for yourself.

Hellblade is expected to release this year, according to the developers. The game has now been in development for over two years. Currently Hellblade  is planned for release on the PS4 and PC.
