One of the best parts about running a website like OnlySP is always having new games to try out. Of course, this comes at a price, however, as sometimes we are just too inundated with games we don’t even have time to fully enjoy them.

Take this past week for example. Within a span of five days, we were sent review copies of Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Dishonored: DE, and Forza 6. As you have probably already noticed, we only have reviews up for…one of those games. I thought I was going to have time to play through enough of each game to have a review ready hopefully not too long after release, but as you know, Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid V are both massive open world games with tons of content to complete. Forza 6 is another major experience with tons of content to complete.

And that’s just the START of this holiday gaming season.

As much as I’d like to play through these games to completion, I just do not have the time, even under the pressure of getting a review out to you in a timely manner. College is also helpful with my time management, you know, homework and all.

Before running OnlySP, I was in your situation, and I could almost go as far as to say it’s more stressful. Your time and money is at stake with all these new games coming out, and literally every week for the next 3 months will feature a new release.

With each new release, the question is raised as to which game is most worth your time. Having played just about every big new release that has come out so far, I can honestly say the quality of the games coming out is just fantastic. If you like to play a lot of different games, this year is going to be an absolute hell for you.

This is the time of year everyone’s backlog grows to insurmountable levels, leaving wonderful experiences untouched for months after release. My Steam library is chock full of great games I’ll probably never have time to even play.

How do you even find the time to play so many games? I’m the kind of gamer that can play through multiple games at once, as I am right now with Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid V. However, I also really hate having to do that as I don’t really feel like I’m getting that whole “uninterrupted” experience that I should be getting.

So, what strategy do you have for this time of year, dear reader? Do you only pick up one or two games and wait for the rest to go on sale? Or, do you build up your backlog so you continually have something to play once you’ve beaten a game. Let us know in the comments section!

  1. I usually only play one game at a time until I’m finished. The other games I want to play will probably have dropped in price by the time I get around to them anyway.
