Lantern Festival Sale

Everyone loves a good sale, and the guys and gals at GOG have set up a doozy. All told, over 300 games and digital extras are on sale. Here is a list of some of the best.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition – $14.99 (40% off)
If you are a single player gamer and an RPG lover looking for the best bang for your buck, you cannot do much better than this. In our review back in 2015, we said the game set a new bar for the genre. It is a bar that some would say stands unsurpassed to this day. The Game of the Year Edition incorporates the base game’s two major expansions, Hearts of Stone, and Blood and Wine. For $15, you are getting hundreds of hours of top-tier RPG gameplay, some incredible stories, and a cast of layered, well-realized characters.

The Witcher 3Moonlighter – $11.99 (40% off)
What if you could make your adventures pay off, literally? Moonlighter is a gorgeous indie game that sees you scouring dungeons by night, searching for herbs, potions, and valuable collectibles. By day, you run a shop, crafting and enchanting powerful new weapons and armor. Meet villagers, get to know them, then put your loot on sale.

Bioshock Remastered – $6.59 (67% off)
Bioshock 2 Remastered – $6.59 (67% off)
What really needs to be said about Bioshock that has not been said already? It was and still is, one of the greatest games ever made, and it helped legitimize the Xbox 360 as a viable and competitive gaming console. Oh yeah, it is also one of our 50 favorite games. Its sequel, though less celebrated, is still an incredible game in its own right, arguably trumping the first in terms of pure game design. Both titles have been remastered for the 8th generation of consoles.

Mafia III Deluxe Edition – $14.99 (75% off)
Mafia III is a flawed, but ambitious game. It may not have hit all of the notes it attempted to tackle, but it remains a fascinating interactive look at post-Vietnam America through the skin of an African American protagonist. It features a sprawling open world, vividly drawn characters, and a soundtrack to die for.

Hangar 13Prince of Persia – $3.39 (66% off)
Though it was released in 2008, Prince of Persia is still a striking looking video game. Envisioned as a reboot of the popular Sands of Time-era games, it features a bold, cel-shaded art style, wonderful puzzles and platforming, and the vocal stylings of Nolan North as the eponymous Prince of Persia.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar – $9.89 (67% off)
Folks of a certain age will no doubt recall Joe Madureira’s comic book magnum opus Battle Chasers with a tinge of bittersweet nostalgia. Night Chasers is a stunning follow up to the comic, featuring turn-based combat inspired by the classic JRPG format, and deep, well-realized world.

Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Edition – $4.99 (75% off)
Dragon Age: Origins is one of OnlySP’s 50 favorite games for a reason. It is an amazing RPG, with deep tactical systems, dense lore, and a sprawling, engaging story. For many, Origins represents the last time Bioware made a full-fat, no compromises RPG, and it’s worth savoring every last drop.

Other hidden gems on sale include:

ELEX – $19.99 (60% off)
Beat Cop – $4.49 (70% off)
Beyond Good and Evil – $3.39 (66% off)
Rayman Origins – $6.79 (66% off)
Mirror’s Edge – $4.99 (75% off)
Bastion – $3.78 (75% off)
