Lately, most of the footage shown of the upcoming God of War: Ascension has focused on the game’s multiplayer component, which has made fans more than a little uneasy. However, Sony promises that an absolute truckload of single-player related content and reveals are coming next month, and among them will be a single-player demo for the title.

Today, a Sony blog post went up in which the following was officially stated:

We have more single-player details to unravel and showcase as we rage towards our launch on March 12th. Most importantly, in late February, we’ll be bringing you a full-fledged single player demo! We’ll be announcing details in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

No definitive date for the demo just yet, but “late February” is good enough. There’s also no word on whether the demo will cover yet-unseen material or if it’ll be the same one shown at E3 2012. The latter would definitely be a bit of a cop-out, especially since it already came bundled with the Total Recall blu-ray package a while back, but it would still be better than nothing. We’ll see.

Mark the entire last week or so of February in your calenders, God of War fans, because who knows? The demo might be so good that you’ll play it repeatedly. In fact, maybe that’s the point… maybe we’re meant to continuously play it, since there’s a hidden hypnotic message within it… oh my god, I figured it out! Guys, it turns out *censored for corporate interests*.

Oh, and Sony also finally announced exactly what would be included in the Collector’s Edition, which is up for pre-order now. According to the image above, it includes a Kratos statue, a steelbook case, the game’s soundtrack (probably a digital version), PSN avatars, a multiplayer XP boost, and a dynamic PS3 theme. Considering this edition is only $20 more than the standard edition, it’s definitely not a bad deal for fans of the series.

UPDATE: Turns out the collector’s edition was already revealed a while ago, this is just how the final packaging for it will look like. My bad.

Stay tuned for more news on God of War: Ascension as we zip towards its February single-player media buffet. Also be sure to read Chris’ recent preview of the game. The full game releases on March 12 (13 EU, 14 AU, 15 UK) exclusively for PS3.
