Ghostwire: Tokyo

Some tiny new details about the world of GhostWire: Tokyo have emerged.

On Twitter, the game’s creative director Ikumi Nakamura dropped a handful of hints about the upcoming project, explicitly confirming details hinted at in its debut trailer. The game will take during a “raptured apocalypse,” meaning that members of the general population will have mysteriously vanished.

Curiously, Tango Gameworks has also opted to set the game in a “near future Tokyo,” rather than a contemporary setting, though no further details about how far into the future the team is looking are yet available.

Alongside this information, Nakamura dropped a minute-long moving teaser featuring what may the main character standing atop a rooftop overlooking the neon-drenched city. The character is shown only in silhouette, though the slight movements may provide a hint of long hair. The teaser is embedded in the tweet below.

The tweet also mentions “supernatural” as a key word and questions whether what is happening in the game is “‘Normal’ or ‘Paranormal,'” raising the question of whether it might be based on real-world science.
