Rod Fergusson has revealed that Gears Tactics will be a fully single-player title without any microtransactions.
Fergusson, studio head of developer The Coalition, broke the news in a tweet stating, “For those asking, [Gears Tactics] is single-player and has no microtransactions. Not even cosmetic ones. Everything is earned in game.”
Although first revealed at E3 2018, Gears Tactics was reintroduced to gamers during the recent Game Awards.
Until Gears Tactics, the Gears of Wars franchise has had a heavy emphasis on competitive multiplayer experiences. Gears 5, the most recent title, also features several paid cosmetic options.
Gears Tactics will take place before the first Gears of War game and is being developed to offer around 40 hours of campaign gameplay. It will be released for Xbox One and PC (via Steam) on April 28, 2020.
